How religions are a necessary evil, but also the trap of the Devil
Have you ever wondered why there are so many religions in the world? Two reasons.
Firstly, Man was originally given the opportunity to choose to be his own god by eating from the fruit of the tree of knowledge of Good and evil, and where Satan offered the same in the temptation to Eve “You will be like God knowing good and evil”. Ever since then man has been trying to decide for himself and from within self what truth is creating all sorts of religious activity. You may ask why then didn’t God just destroy Satan? Well that leads us to a second point; God allows alternative thoughts for genuine faith to exercise its will to choose from. Whether truth is solely in God’s Word or in all the other options which must be made available to man to choose from; i.e. religions, philosophy, evolution, mysticism, etc; each of which is suited for the different opinions of people. Adam had two simple things to choose from; depend on God to explain, or find out for yourself, and he failed. If there are no options, there is no true choice for our mind, will and emotion from which to choose. Look at the various religions from the earliest recorded histories of the world as compared to the consistent message of the Word of God. Each generation had to choose for themselves what they would believe in. I.e. compare that early man believed that the world sat on the backs of giant animals verses what the oldest book of the Bible, Job, said that “God hung the world on nothing.” It is your choice, but choose carefully as your eternal life is dependent upon it. God’s Word never fails.
The letter kills but the Spirit gives life
2 Cor 3 1Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you? 2 You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. 3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 4 Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. 5 Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
As we ponder God’s character from the above passage, I wonder if God would answer our signature question below in the following way…
Who are you Lord?
I AM the God who changes people from the inside out not like religion which uses behavioral conformity from the outside in. I AM the one who gives you my righteousness through the Gospel of Christ. I AM the one who makes you new inside and gives you my Divine nature. That is not something that you can just try to imitate. All religions have some intent to try to curb the evil inside of you, just like Satan said to Eve that you can be in your own authority (god) knowing good from evil, but only I can truly make you holy in my sight and that is only by faith in what my Son did for you on the cross.
I AM the God who changes people in reality not academically. My righteousness is about action that everyone will see because of who I AM in you, not what you purport to know from human wisdom and study. School is fine provided it brings about godly change in your life, not just head knowledge about facts. By studying my Word, you can know me intimately so that I can make you like me. This way you can be my representatives for my glory by being like me in this dark subjective age just like the Pharisees could see that the disciples had been with Jesus.
The Law of Moses and Jesus’ teaching were given to show that God’s holiness is unattainable by man’s effort.
The Law of Moses, Jesus’ teachings, and the fruit of the spirit in a Christian’s life have one thing in common. None of them can be manufactured truthfully by human effort or religious ritualism. In Jesus’ day, those who thought that they were righteous by Moses’ standard were blown out of the water by the perfect standard which Jesus taught. In the Church age, The Holy Spirit dramatically transformed the early believers by His indwelling, control and filling resulting in the fruit of the Spirit being evident to all. Only God can make us live the Christ life. No one can “try” to be righteous by any other standard than that which Christ freely gave us in his death. If you are trying by your religious experience to be pleasing to God, right now come to the cross of Christ who died on your behalf to give you his righteousness which God accepted. Only then, will he allow you into heaven.
Titus 3:5- 7 “he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”
Eph 2:8, 9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Romans 1:16, 17 “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’”
2 Cor 5:21 “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
More to come,
